Cabin Time

Last Weekend me and Steve headed up to the cabin on Wednesday
afternoon. We made a quick stop at the Ace in Heber and a miracle happened with us seeing an ad for a ranger aide at Deer Creek. Anyone who has a teenager looking for a job knows that it is almost impossible to find employment out here. Taylor has been applying everywhere and had no success. We immediately called him and he called up the guy and got the job. You can't tell me our Heavenly Father doesn't answer prayers.

So after seeing the guy at Deer Creek Taylor drove up to the cabin. It was the first chance this year he has had to go up. We took a drive up Rhodes Canyon in the ranger, which Taylor likens to being on the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland. I will agree with him driving it feels like it. There is this big rock slide and we wanted to know what was at the top of the rock slide. We were hoping to find a cool pond or the lost Rhodes gold mine. After climbing all the way up we were sad to discover more rocks.

That night we sat out by the campfire and Taylor had fun with the camera. It was a full moon and looked awesome coming over the mountain.

Taylor also likes to take pictures of his feet and tonight was no exception. The next morning he had to leave to do some stuff around home. It was fun having him up there.
Steve has been busy using up all the left over logs from building the cabin. He's making some cool benches for the deck.

I spend most of my time moving rocks and hauling dirt. You would think with all the rocks I have thrown my biceps would be huge.
Steve built a step over for the fence out of logs. He had to make a gate for the top of it to keep the goats out. I don't know how he thinks of these things but he does a wonderful job making stuff.
I also took some flat rocks and made steps to the top. It's not as grand as the ones on the other side, but it does it's job. It's wonderful to be up there and outside working. We always hate coming home even though we are exhausted.

We found another trail this year. I can't believe how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful country. We just keep finding new places to see and explore.

Taylor's graduation

Our baby graduated this last Thursday. I can't believe it, we are done with the public school system and we couldn't be more thrilled to start this new chapter in our lives.

Lone Peak's was the last graduation at the Marriott Center on Thursday. It started at 7:30 and didn't finish until aroun 9:50. He graduated with a class of 643 students. It takes awhile to read that many names. The speakers were all short and wonderful and it was a nice graduation.

Grandma Roberts came after sitting through the Spanish Fork graduation earlier. She is a wonderful Grandma to do that.

Taylor had a great group of friends that he hung out with. They are a little goofy but good guys. They do have a game they play at Seths pool called sharks which I think is a little strange.

As I have complained before my children cannot take a serious picture. It is even worse with Greg.

Taylor graduated with honors and is headed to BYU with a scholarship. Coming from Utah is a hard thing to get. He plans on attending two semesters and then going on his mission.

Since our kids come from such a big class me and a couple of other moms wanted to do something special to honor them. We planned the first Cedar Hills 1st ward senior party. We invited all the families and with the weather stormy we went to the church. We played a get to know the senior game and found out lots of interesting facts about our seniors. Then we ate their favorite deserts and watched video's that the parents had put together about their child. It was a fun evening and we have a great group of kids that graduated.

I guess it's kids that can't be serious when taking a picture.

memorial weekend

We usually head up to our cabin for Memorial Weekend, but thanks to our stake for planning seminary graduation on Sunday we got to stay home. Friday Taryn drove out to Duchesne with me to place flowers on my Father's grave. It was nice to be able to talk to her for a few hours and I appreciated the company.
Saturday Steve and Taylor went down to help his mom do fence, so Taryn came to my rescue again and we hiked up to Timp cave and back down. I realized if I'm going to hike the Grand Canyon this fall I need to be in much better shape.

Sunday we went to Taylor's graduation and then on Monday we took the boat out to Utah Lake. It's always a worrying wondering if I'm going to be able to get up and ski the first time of the year, but I'm happy to report that both me and Grandpa got up on the first try. I won't say that we skied long but we did get up.

Taylor and Taryn each took their turn. Taryn on the wake-board and Taylor on the skim skate. But mostly we sat around and talked. Since it wasn't that warm we didn't really worry about sun-screen and I am a lovely beet red color.

Taylor doesn't sit still very well.

That night we saw that he is very talented and flexiable for a guy and can put his legs behind his head. Yes we do get bored. Heather and Kevin and the girls spent the weekend up at the cabin with his family.

Berkley Kate

Berkley had her birthday on May 14th. She turned 1 year old. I am so in love with this beautiful brown eyed, blonde hair baby.
She is so kissable with her fat cheeks and if you ask her for a kiss you get a wide open mouth one.

I think her favorite thing to do is eat. She is so noisy as she eats because she is saying yum yum yum with every bite. She will try most every food, but has her mind made up on what she will eat and it changes hourly.

Heather made her this little cake and she ate it all. The whole time she was saying yum yum yum. I'm one lucky grandma (or Munga) to have such beautiful granddaughters to love.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day was wonderful but very busy. We went to our church and then ran to our friend's son's farewell. We had to leave right after Ashton spoke so
we could be home to talk to Greg. We had scheduled the phone call for 2:00 before we knew about Ashton's farewell. So Taryn and Heather made the phone call and where able to talk to Greg until we made it home. Any mother of a missionary would agree with me that the phone call is all they need or want for mother's day. It was so fun to talk to him and hear his voice. I'm also thrilled to say I only have one more phone call until he comes home. He was disappointed to tell me that he will be coming home a week early. I was happy, so he will return home on January 28th. I guess in Brazil they get them home a week before their visa's expire.

I try to get a picture with my children on Mother's Day and forgot all about it until later that night. So I dragged them outside and tried to get a decent picture. Taryn and Taylor make it pretty hard, they are always doing something crazy. When we saw the first picture we had to ask Taryn if she knew the leaves were in her face. Just wait until they get kids of their own and when they do I hope they are as wonderful as mine.

Taryn's Graduation

Last night Taryn graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Recreational Therapy. No that is not a degree just to camp or be a park ranger. She always
gets teased about that. This summer she will be doing her internship with Vista in Salt Lake. Along with her internship she will be working full-time.

Thank goodness she is young and has some energy. If we are lucky she will be able to sneak away and join us at the cabin.

She graduated with honors and we are so proud of the young woman she is. She will be able to do anything she wants to in life.

At dinner my awesome daughter gave me an early birthday present. She got me tickets to see George Strait this July. I am so excited and couldn't ask for a better gift. Also her friend Ryan said he would come clean my windows for Mother's Day. Life is good.

Prom

Taylor asked Sierra to the prom. They are good friends and like to be goofy together. She was going as Aubrey Hepburn in "Breakfast at Tiffany's". They found her dress
at a vintage dress shop and I thought she looked great. Taylor and his friends meet at a church so us parents could come and take pictures. We were lucky that the

rain held off until we took all the pictures. These are some of the handsome priests in our ward.

The prom was held at the capital. Thursday night for the day date they went up and toured the capital. Zach's dad was able to take them around and see places most of the public never gets to see. Then the night of the prom they had breakfast at Zach's grandparents house and then went to the prom. Yes it was Taylors idea to have breakfast. I thought they looked great and I was impressed that all the girls were dressed modestly.
